I'm leaking milk and I'm on my period could I be pregnant?
I'm really worried because last night when I got home from work and got undressed I noticed that I was leaking a clear liquid from my nipples. I have noticed that my breasts look a little bigger and they are incredibly tender.
I'm only 20 years old and I have asked a few people and I'm just getting more and more nervous.
What kind of makes me so scared is that when my period was due it was only spotting for a day or two. Finally a week later I started and it is still pretty heavy after four days.
Also this could be totally unrelated but I thought I'd throw it in there. I've been having major pains in my chest (in the middle of my chest right above my breasts) and my upper back directly behind the chest pains has been giving me problems as well.
Any help or advice would be so very much appreciated.
Thank you
Emily

It could be or maybe something else.
If you are taking the pill you need to find out right away and get off the pill if you are pregnant. I got pregnant right after my third baby and was taking the pill (which I had never taken before) and had the symptoms you describe only to find out I was pregnant while on the pill.

You need to go to your doctor and stop playing the guessing game.

Thank you for your resonse. I'm actually not on birth control at all and I haven't been in about three years. And I have never been pregnant before. Can I take a pregnancy test while I'm on my cycle?

Please do go to the doctor. If you're in an early pregnancy, its doubtful that is actually milk you are leaking. It could be a sign of infection, etc.

Did you acertain what this was? It sounds like an infection of the milk ducts to me especially where the pains are coming from back and upper breast areas... please give me some feedback as this is unusual in how you present the symptoms..
Cheers

I never went to the doc for it because it went away but it did come back again right before my last period. I'm not pregnant and I am blessed for that. But I should probably go to the doc if it comes back again.

It could be due to differing hormonal balances eostrogen versus progesterone around the time of your period-is the fluid coloured like milk as in pus? Or clear now? Do both breasts hurt? Do you have pains in the spine?

Yes now that you mention it I do have pains in my spine and the fluid is clear with a little tint of yellow. Sometimes there is a little white in it. And yes they both hurt.

Emm,
You really must go to the doctor. What your experiencing won't likely "go away" for long so you'll need to get an exam.
Don't worry too much or feel embarrassed, just get yourself checked out so you can start feeling better, okay?

Thank you and I will. This is kind of making me nervous. I think I will be OK though. We will see what the doc says.
