    Divorce & Debts
I have now been divorced from my ex husband for 6 months, when we parted we agreed that he would take one loan and I would take the other, ofter 18 months of being split It has now come to light that the loan he took on hasn't been paid, I have now received a county court claim against me (we have both received one), he has sent his back saying he admits to the full amount, on mine I have said that I would be willing to pay £5000 of the debt off and the rest for my ex husband to pay, how do I stand with this situation.

    Thanks

Not sure if its different in the UK, but creditors in the US aren't bound by a divorce decree. So as long as you are signed on the debt you are responsible for it. So your ex needs to refinance the debt in his name only (you should do the same for the debt you assumed). This will get you off the hook.

If you have to pay for his debt, you can then sue him for not living up to his end of the decree.
