I recently installed a ceiling fan with 3 way speed and light combination according to the supplier instructions. This model comes standard with a remote control and receiver.

When I tried it out, it acted quite strange.
1) The speeds are in reverse order
2) At any speed, when the light is switched on via the remote, the fan slow to a near standstill
3) At the highest speed (which isn't very fast) the 2X40w bulbs glows lightly, medium speed the light are a bit brighter etc.

The wiring diagram clearly shows that the remote receiver is to be connected to the live and neutral of the house. The receiver then provides connection to the motor via a HOT motor wire, HOT light wire, Common neutral wire and an earth
I have matched the colors.

I get the feeling that the HOT motor and HOT light may have been switched at assembly. This still does not explain the glowing of the lights and near stopping of the fan when using the light

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Chances of a wiring error at the factory are almost 0. Get yourself a multimeter and start taking notes on the voltage at all connections, starting with your black and white coming out of the ceiling.

Have you tried installing it without the receiver?
