    Why does my outlet have an "open hot" condition ?

    "Open Hot" means that the Hot wire is not bringing power to the receptacle.

    If you have an small circuit tester, it has two probes and a light on it. This type of tester will light if there is power on the black. Place one probe on the bare ground wire and one probe on the black wire. If it does not light up, then check the breaker to make sure it has not tripped.
