    Maytag gas dryer heats intermittently
I have a Maytag gas dryer that is two years old and not heating all the time. It runs intermittently. For instance, an average load can run for three cycles (50 minutes each) and still be damp. I can't buy a new one right now and would try to repair it myself before a costly service call. My son has thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed the vents. It heats briefly then apparently just blows cold air. The drum is turning but it won't dry my clothes. I think the days of the "lonely" Maytag man are gone. :) Help!!!

Did he remove the blower housing and clean it? This is usually clogs up first before the vent hose does. Check this and if problem continues, post back for further troubleshooting

This unit has been out of commission for two weeks! I'm about ready to lose my mind.

Can you offer any additional troubleshooting advice?

I'll accept any advice from a Colts fan!

Test the hi-temp thermostat. It could be bad and shutting burner down when the temp reaches that temp the will start back up at a lower temp. Pull one lead off it and check for continuity. Example, the lower temp stat may be marked 135 and the hi stat may be marked 165.

Maytag gas dryer, replacing gas valve coils [ 5 Answers ]

Hi, I hope someone can help me. My Maytag gas dryer's igniter glows but then no flame appears. I believe it is the gas valve coils that are bad, so I purchased a replacement kit (3 coils). The instructions say to match the colors of the wires, but my replacement kit has red, black, white...

My maytag dryer, model ldg482 runs but the heat does not come on. The igniter comes on but the gas doesn't ignite. Any suggestions?? The owners manual is totally useless and I'm reluctant to call in a service man to look at it since I have a complete tool shop and all tools to do anything.
