    L1 visa & Tax & SSN
    Hi,

I have just arrived in the USA on an L1 visa. I have been here for a month and half. I have applied for a SSN but haven't received one as yet. I am single and no dependants.

Currently I am paying up 39% of my earnings to income tax ! Is it because I do not have a SSN or to the fact that I am here on an L1 visa?

Thank you for taking taime in answering my question.

Actually, the 39% is probably spread over federal and state income taxes, and Social Security and Medicare taxes.
