    Making blades turn
Help, 1st of all I have a ceiling fan w/light fixture. The pull chain broke off from the inside, I've replaced the switch. At first the light wouldn't come on either so I switched the black wires. The wire colors are 1 red, 2 blacks & a 1 greenThe light works again but all the ceiling fan does is hum. The connections say L 1, 2 & 3 (4 wires) I'm not sure what to do now as I can't find the name brand of the fan (was already in when I purchased the property). It's humming and that's about all. PS this is the 2nd switch purchased.

Well the light worked once but it's not working now, although the fan is still humming and the light indicator on the wall shows it functional.

You may have a seized fan motor. Gently push start the fan blades and see if they try to move on their own. Likely the entire unit should be replaced. Keep an ABC rated extinguisher nearby.

    Ceiling fan
Ok, I turned the fan gently and it spun for a moment but soon stopped. I assume the motor could be seized? And does that mean purchase a new one?

Yes. That is what I recommended on your previous post.

Before we go any further you should find out more about how the questions are answered here. You don't need to post a new question every time. You need to read the FAQ page.

If the fan worked before the switch was replaced, then the switch is the problem, not the motor.

Flag (for deletion) duplicate posts, don't barrade the offenders publicly. That's my job.

Back to the switch, there are many many replacement pullchains. Many look alike but they are not alike. You probably do not have the correct one. See:
