Does a consultant working outside the US for a US Company have to pay taxes in the US
    Hello,
    a. I hold an Indian Passport.
    b. I have a residence + work permit for St. Maarten (netherlands Antilles)
    c. A company in the US has hired me and I will be offering them Consultancy services & working as an agent outside the United States (in Netherlands Antilles)
    d. I would be paying taxes on St. Maarten on the income I get.

The U.S. company says they will have to pay 15% tax as this is an off-shore transaction?
    Is this correct ?
I feel this company is misleading me. As I'm offering them my services and will be sending them a regular invoice - why should they or I pay taxes in the USA.
    Can someone guide me.
    Thanks and regards,
    Tinku

    Tinku:

If you are living and working in St. Maarten, NOT the U.S. you will owe ZERO U.S. taxes.

The company MAY have to pay a 15% tax, but how does that affect you?
