    Everyone must pay taxes
As a christian, why are you not paying and trying to be taxed exempt? Did not the Word of our Father say render to Caesar... and Peter pay your taxes and my taxes?

Yes, you pay to Caesar what is his, and in the US Caesar says that churches don't have to pay, so churches pay what is due to Caesar.
Churches do pay for any profit, earnings that are not tax exempt according to US or state law.

I would assume that you would believe that all US citizens should not take any deductions, home interest, business deductions and the such??

But yes, Christians should not cheat on their taxes, and they should pay all legally owed taxes.

    I agree with Fr. Chuck!

The U.S. tax system is hideously complex and often unfair. However, there is NOTHING immoral or illegal about any taxpayer educating himself or herself on the appropriate means of taking legitimate tax deductions to reduce their tax burden.

If you feel that it is appropriate to NOT take these legitimate deductions, no one (to include the IRS) will require you to take these deductions.

However, I suspect your attitude may change when you are faces with a huge tax bill come April 15, 2008.
