Just to be understanding...
The morning sickness will pass, unfortunately not much can be done for it.
My friend would eat saltine crackers and sip ginger ale after her morning episodes and said it made her feel better afterwards...

I have heard that ginger is helpful. I even saw that the Mythbusters found it useful in treating sea sickness.

Best thing I found is that to eat very small portions of whatever I could often (like every hour or so),
Although this did not prevent the morning sickness (which rarely happened in the morning),it helped me keep my stomach from being totally empty.
The easiest thing is not trying to prevent throwing up,I felt better after throwing up, it used to give me headaches if I tried not to throw up.

I was very sick during my first trimester also. Not much helped, but I did find that cooking with fresh ginger root helped to ease my nausea. You can even boil the ginger root, to make something like a tea, and add a little sugar... it doesn't taste great but it helped me to hold some food down on days where it seemed impossible. Just make sure she is drinking enough, it is very easy to become dehydrated when you are that sick.

While ginger is said to be good for upset stomach, no herbal remedies are recommended during pregnancy. (Just had this in lecture and on a quiz last thursday).
Unfortunately, morning sickness (for some all day sickness) tends to last only during the first trimester (12 weeks), and begins to subside from there.
It is important that she remain hydrated (this is where ginger ale comes in). It is also recommended to eat saltine crackers and sip the ginger ale while still in bed. That is the important part. Still in bed.
If her morning sickness is really bad, she should discuss this with her doctor.
