Is this occurring at a high rpm or a low rpm or both?

To Mowerman, It started at low rpm, then I would set throttle for high rpm, and that worked for about 20 minutes, then discharged battery light came back on,and now stays on all the time now. The battery checks good and starts engine with no problem. Thanks for any help you can offer, Buddy

To Mowerman, I'm sorry, but when I said discharge light stays on all the time NOW, I meant to say even WITHOUT the electric switch ON to engage the blades, sorry, but this could make a difference in your answer. Thanks again, Buddy

First of all, how did you determine that the battery "tested" good? Did you simply use a voltmeter and see if you had at least 12.0 VDC ? If so your test may be incorrect. You need to use a "load testing" battery tester that will show how the battery performs under a load. A battery can test 12.0 VDC or higher with a voltmeter, and still be a bad battery, because as the load is applied it drains the current from the battery rapidly. Could be a charging problem, but if the battery is over 1 year old, which by the way is the expected life of the battery, the battery may be going bad.

Mr. Mowerman2468, Yes I did a load test on battery, and also tried a new battery, Battery discharge light still stays on , no matter what. I also thing it's a charging proplem, but that's where I don't know what to do or what or how to check. Thanks, Buddy

Trying to tell you how to test for charging from the stator is next to impossible, first off you have to be able to identify which wires you have, the types of connectors, the colors of wires, which I could describe the colors fine and I am sure you too could, but identifying the different types of connectors would be hard to do. And you have to know what rpm to test the charging system at , then you have to know whether to test for ac , or dc volts.

My battery light came on (while the car was running) today for the 1st time in over 5 years with my civic. Even with a dead battery, the light never came on while running. If rev the engine to 3000-3500 rpms, the light starts to fade, so I suspect that the alternator is about to go (very soon). ...
