    Tub to Shower Coversion
    Sir,
I need Help... I am in the process of converting a tub to a shower and I purchased a plastic mebrane from a local plumbing company that they told me to go on line to find out how to install it. I did what they said and had no luck in finding the web site so I am trurning to you to PLEASE help me find a sloution. The tub has been removed and have started to try and figure out how to get the proper slope to the drain so as the tile will not look to bad where the wall meets the floor of the shower. Also how do I install the mebrane on the floor and put the tile on top of that and still make the tile floor not move around or crack? Any suggestions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

    THANK YOU,
    Dewey

plummers will also know how to do this,

first you'll need to frame up your threshold, we do this by using 3 2x4s stacked on top of each other. You'll also need to frame in your walls to accept your shower door, I don't know what your shower size is but I can tell you you'll need to add at least a couple 2x4s on each side of the tub. After this lay the rubber membrane down on the floor, it will need to lap up 8 to 10" around each side,! Do not cut the corners, you have to fold the rubber in the corners, if you cut this at all it will leak, so no cutting. Now also lap the rubber over the threshold. At this point you can cut the membrane but only on the outside of the shower, where your going over the threshold. You'll need to cut it at the edge of the 2x4 so part of it can lap down to the floor and the other around the door frame. You'll also need to install the drain at this point, you'll need to cut a hole in the sub floor for the pipe, the drain assembly will fasten on top of the membrane.
after you've done all this I run some water in there and let it set for a few days to check for leaks, if you don't and you have one you'll be starting over from scratch,

here is my real advise, if you really want to try this, go to Lowe's or homedepot and get the video. They sell them, to me this is not a do it yourself project. I know how to do this, but I just have my tile guy do it, and that way I don't have to worry, but good luck to you and get that video
