I have dark hair and I want to make it light.
Ok So I Have Pretty Dark Hair But I Have Natural Red Highlights Which Come Out A lot In The Sun And Stuff. But I Don't Want Dark Hair Anymore And I Want To Make It Light. Like A Very Light Brown With Blonde In It Or Something Ya Know. So Im Asking Could I Be Able To Do It Myself? Do I Have To Bleach My Hair? My Friend Is In Vocational School For Hair And She Said I Would. But Won't That Ruin The Contrast And Everything With My Hair? I Just Don't Want My Hair To Fall Out. :(

Typically the rule of thumb is that if you are going more then a few shades darker or lighter then your natural hair color you will need a professional to do it. If you do it yourself there are chances that the hair color could come out wonky (i.e. brassy, purple, green, orange, etc). I would save my money and go to the salon and have it done.

Thanks I Figured I Would Have To Do That To Be On The Safe Side. Coloring Hair Well Going Shades Lighter Costs A lot Of Money Huh? I Haven't Really Looked Into It. I Know It Depends On The Salon But Do You Know Of A Ball Park Range In Prices ?

It really does depend on where you live and what you're doing.

I've gotten my hair done by the same woman for 13 years and she does hair out of her house and what she charges is much less then what salons cost.

I would ask people to recommend a salon or is there a place you go to get your haircut? Your best bet is to look for an Aveda salon. I would look around in your area and call and ask how much hair color and highlights run.

Oh and BTW I have dark brown hair and when I was a teenager I tried to give myself blonde highlights and lets just say it was BAAADDD. I will never color my hair on my own again.

Today I dyed my hair "dark brown" and it came out too dark. I don't want to strip or bleach my hair, I just want to make the color fade a little faster. I've read about several ways to do this and I wanted to know if anyone knew the best method or if any of these really work. Here are the...

I have used the non-permanent hair colors off and on for a couple of years and haven't had any major issues with them.
