Trying To Build A Small Tub?
My wife and I recently bought a fixer upper. The bathroom is extremely small. I was looking for a showertub, but I only could find them in Europe. I was thinking of making a base of a shower with tiles and then builing it up so that it could still hold water like a tub. The reason behind this whole debacle is my wife wants a tub for my newborn son. So if you understand my idea can anyone see a problem with it. There is no room for a tub in this bathroom, as of right now my knees are already hitting the tub when I sit on the toilet. And I am not a big person. Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Hi there,

I think a lot of it would depend on how much water you plan on it holding. If quite a bit, I would brace it well, as holding water can generate a lot of force, and you wouldn't want an unplanned mess on your hands ;)

I don't see why you couldn't use a shower liner to store enough water to use as a bath.

    Thanks,

You may want to consider a fiberglas slop sink like the ones in maintenance closets. Mine is about 12 inches deep.

For a new born, what we did was go to toys r us and buy an infant tub, its all self contained , you can set them by the sink. It also has a lay down seat for the infant to lay in while there bathing.

As for building a tub , yes you can , you'll need to install a rubber liner before you install the tile. It will be a job no doubt.

I want to move my laundry tub. There is a small metal tube (about 1/4") coming from the bottom of the taps. It then is simply fitted into a rubber tube that runs down to the floor. It is behind the base 2/4 of the wall so I cannot see if it goes into the floor or along the wall behind the 2x4. ...
