    Honda rough idol
I have a 93 del sol that just started acting up. It seems to idol fine but when you step on it it sputters and almost stalls before it starts to go. If you just ease on the pedal it runs fine. It has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, ignitor, and fuelfilter. I have looked for any vacuum leaks and now I am drawling a blank. Any help would be great. Tnaks matt

It sounds to me like the coil is breaking down, but you say you've replaced that? Possible fuel quality problem/partially clogged injectors?

It's a brand new coil, now the car sat for over a year but was started at least once a month and I filled the tank with high test first time out. Now today I filled it again but I ran it pretty low and now this problem started. So I just changed the fuel filter again. Now it idols better but if you step on it it falls on its face and pops before it wants to go

Just running it may have helped some, but sustained driving at operating temperature would have been better.

Have the injectors flushed and see if that helps. It may help temporarily, but one or more infectors may be so badly corroded/seized that replacement may be in order. Running a high detergent fuel can help, but may take longer and a poorly running engine can damage the converter.

Is having the injectors flushed something I can do, or has to be done by a garage.

Proper injector flushing is best done by a qualified shop, dealer or aftermarket. Anything you can buy over the counter probably won't be effective. Especially the "tank stuff!" If it was strong enough to work, it would eat the tank liner!

Make sure you tell them going in about your drivability concerns. You know the vehilces history, often times better than they do, so be prepared for attempted "up-sells." Not that's always bad, but be sure they understand what brought you into their store first! Ask about diag fees and ask about their warranties, up front. If they don't want to be open, don't give them your keys!

And, if you need to leave your car, thoroughly discuss anything additional they wish to sell you. (Consult here if you have any worries) Remember, they are supposed to provide you a service, not just relieve you of your hard earned pennies. And above all, remember why you had your car in there in the first place.

    Good luck.
