I have a problem. I am NOT an electrician nor do I want to be one. I have been shocked more times in my life than I can count. I just remodeled my bathroom and put in a new gfci and a hot tub and new light fixtures. I thought I would get brave and replace all of the t-stats in my house with new digital programmable ones. I purchased a Honeywell RLV430 5-2 programmable t-stat. I wired it up and blew it right off the wall. Yeehaa! Not to worry I have five more I can blow up. I have six wires connecting the old t-stat not including the ground wire to the box. I had two white wires on the top right side of the t-stat and one white the bottom of the old t-stat. Other side was black, two on top one on the bottom. I wired all of the black to one wire off the new t-stat and all the white to the other wire of the t-stat. What did I do wrong. Please help. G.

You may have had line voltage(115 volt) thermostats and replaced them with 24 volt thermostats, is this possible?

I agree with ace, STOP, do not blow up any more thermostats, for the same price that your are paying just to ruin thermostats, you might as well call in a pro.
