I own a approximately 6-8 year old panasonic SA-AK200 5 disk changer stereo and ( its been used by my mother for the last 4 months) and the tape deck doesn't work now and it won't play cd's properly. ( if you skip ahead to song number 5 on a cd it won't play) and you cannot switch cd's (from 1 - 5) it was not doing this before when I had it but my mother said it was doing it from the second she got it (she used it while I was in calgary) should I just toss it or is it worth fixing and can it be fixed?

Considering that new systems are about $150 I'm sure you will pay close to that much for the repairs.

Thanks. I guess its pointless to try and get it fxed then. Do you know what could have caused this to happen. It has never been abused or over used. It was mainly for noise at night and the occasional party

As for the CD player, they sometimes need cleaning (compressed air) or realignment of the laser. It may not switch CDs because it thinks that the tray is empty.

Normally it would switch cd trays no matter if there was a cd in it or not. They all open on their own (shelves inside the cd player not one big round disk with 5 slots for cd's)

OK well something must be wrong with the laser and the computerchips and maby some wiers are messed up but you its kind of old I would just chunk it and go buy a new one there not that expensive just go to like walmar or betbuy that's what I would do
