    At home insemination?
 OK... so I'm in my very early 20's and been with my feonce for 5 years and just got married. We want a chid SO BAD! But, he can't have children cause he had cancer and now has no sperm count. We really don't want to use a donor, and have been to a fertility doctor. I was checked both by the fertility doctor and by my gyno. I'm healthy, and should have no prob trying to conceive. Using the fertility doc is very costly, and we did some reserch and found that we can do insemination at home!! So I went out and go a serenge and a cup with a lid. I sterlized it by boiling it. NOW, what we plan to do is, instead of using a donor, he has a family member that we have always considered and over a looong period spoke to them about it and really it was there idea! Because my man went through this cancer, this family member was with them through the whole prosses, and had always planned to do this for him. SO MY QUESTION IS, will the at home insemination work? He is going to ejaculate into a cup, then we will insert it in me and lay there for 10-15 min. I just want to make shure that it is worth doing, and we don't waiste our time doing this if it doesn't work.PLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEAASSSSEEEE HELP!!

You are talking about a turkey baster sort of thing aren't you? Not a syringe with a needle?

It may or it may not work, there is no way to tell. I understand you cannot afford a fertility doctor, but it is the best way.

There is no way for us to know if this will or will not work.

Does your kit look anything like this?

I don't know if it will work or not, but you will never know unless you try. Just make sure everything is sterile.
I know you aren't a dog, but when I worked at the vet's office we artificially inseminated dogs. The doctor would first collect the semen in a sterile cup, then draw it up into a syringe. He used a syringe to inject the female dog (no needle), he used this so it would push/squirt the sperm up farther into the dog rather then trying to pour it into her. He would then hold the dog's back legs up to insure that the sperm stayed in her. Again, I know you aren't a dog, I am just letting you know how I saw it done in a dog.
Maybe you should try a syring without the needle to get the sperm farther up in you.
Please do make sure everything is sterile so you can be safe and healthy. I hope it does work for you because I know fertility is expensive.

No, I know not to use a needle serenge! And his father is a fire fighter & a nurse so he can get sterlized stuff. I have been timeing my ovulation and going by my vaginal mucus.(eggwhite) is fertile. I just hope that it work. I have done so much studying and reading uppon this. I heard that the"tyrkey baser" method is used for gays people. The only difference between this and IUI is the sperm is not being tested and frozen. It will be fresh, so hopfully that will be helpful. We did go to a doctor, and he said that we would only be able to use a donor, and that cuase I'm so young, I don't need any meds, he would just insert the sperm. The difference from the home method and what he said he was going to do was he would just insert INTO my cervix.
