    Panic attack?
First I need to add that I seem to have a form of social phobia. Ok.. When I go outside which is rare I seem to have these weird feelings.. They are becoming worse and happens almost every time I interact with people. I can't go into details because it's hard to explain but I'll do the best I can. I could be talking to someone or I could be somewhere where people is around and I seem to get this weird feeling like I'm not there. I fear that I'm going to loose control and do something extreme. This feeling is similar to the flight or fight experience that you get when something major has happened. Like I said, it's becoming worse and sometimes it scares me because I always feel like I'm about to loose control. It seems to only happen in social events but sometimes it even happens when I'm talking to someone I feel "safe" around. Does this sound like a panic attack?

It definitely sounds like a panic attack. Although, people from all walks of life experience them in different ways but always in a social or semi social situation. For instance, a client of mine found she eventually could not go to a grocery store because the ordeal was just too painful thinking about all the different people in the store and how she would have to interact with them, for instance, finally ending up at the cashier and having to take her groceries out of the cart, passing the time of day with the girl, talking to the butcher about the kind of meat she wanted. She just could not do it.

There is no magic pill to correct this situation you find yourself in, but counselling is always recommended, as my client found that is what helped her and thinking positive all the time. It was a constant fight to be normal and she, and she was in her late 70s, so not easy; she eventually won. No more panic attacks. It is mind over matter.

She found some good reading material at the library, I might add, self help books that she enjoyed. Hang in there.

I recently started getting panic attacks. They happen less in social environments and more when I am alone. I didn't even know what the problem was. I had one on the way to my partners doctors appointment one day, just sitting in the car, and ended up in a and e, who told me what the problem was and gave me valium! For me, all that happens is that I get unable to breathe properly, very tight chested only able to take shallow breaths. They can affect different people differently. Speak to your dr, they can give you the best advice and treatment ideas. Good luck.

I am not a doctor, but I have experienced panic attacks... As a kid I was shy and felt the emotional pain that children sometimes experience... I had stage fright and passed out due to a panic attack... Being bullied as a teenager was not a pleasant experience... I managed make it through the battle, but not the war... Viet Nam drained me and drank a lot, drown the problem... Hope I'm not boring you... When I was around 30 I had a job welding and started having breathing problems, I am still trying to deal with allergies/asthma... Real panic is when my throat is plugged with mucus and I can't breath, it feels like someone has their hands around my throat... My next breath may be my last?

Hope you buy this CD and it changes your life!! Good Luck
