What levels are to high for nitrite
In my 30 gal tank my nitrite is 1.0 ppm, which seems to be high, but my ammonia level is 0 ppm. What do I need to do to get this down?

How long has your tank been up and running? A lot of times with new tanks, different levels spike. Nitrates and Nitrites should be at a zero... Any reading at all is too high.

The tank is established tank since August of last year, however, shortly after this post I ran into a algae problem. After doing a 3/4 water change the levels on target. Thanks for the feed back.

No problem! Lots of different types of allgae can do strange things to tanks... Mainly because tanks are closed off... Half the issues we experience with fish tanks would never be seen in the wild.

Glad everything worked out for you!
