Isblpn, you ask many good questions, but due to your lack of knowledge about this topic, any answers I give will produce more questions, as I cannot answer all without knowing the exact details of your project, seeing your existing meter and service, etc.

Since your palling on hiring an electrician, or already have one, I need to strongly recommend that you utilize his services an knowledge once you consult with him about your project, and he can see exactly what you have, perform the service rating calculation properly with accurate data, and layout the job and procure the proper materials.

Stan... You are my hero... not. Uptight?. not compared to you apparently, High horse?. The view up there may seem pretty good to you... I don't know... but I know my perspective of you is not so rosy. If there was anything I told this fellow that was wrong, I would like you to point it out. Your main complaint seemed to be that I used the word "think" and that I didn't mention the local electrical supply... Not worth the aggravation.. I have the code book myself and others would be better off spending the money on it rather than putting up with your apparent inability to relate to other people in a civil manner. What is funny is that I don't care one iota what you or anyone else thinks of me. All I care about is that folks get accurate electrical advice.

I made that comment because we do get plenty of folks coming here and giving advice out of the scope of their expertise. When it comes to electrical advice this is not acceptable. So, when you wrote "I think....." what else was I supposed to expect?
