You could call the intentional short sell of a currency with the intended purpose of collapsing the currency a raid... and you would be accurate in the case of the Brits and the Asian financial crisis.

Sept. 15, 2008, about $550 billion was withdrawn from money market accounts in the US ; a massive outflow of U.S. funds to offshore accounts. This withdrawal started an electronic run on the banks and launched the US into financial crisis.

That is a fact. The question at hand is :was the already convicted insider trader Soros behind it ? The identities of those who withdrew such huge sums has never been revealed . It is worthy of a probe by the FTC and the Justice Dept to see if it was a coordinated attack on the US economy.

Further ; that was the tipping point and decisive moment of the 2008 election. An investigation is needed to find out if Soros did this to swing the elections in Obama's favor. Again;he has a record of using his money to influence internal politics here and around the world . Would it be beyond him ? No . I guarantee that profits are not his primary motivation. Just in the 2004 campaign he spent $20 million trying to defeat President Bush.

I love that you are defending a convicted insider trader. But that's OK .For a small contribution pledge of $100 million to 'Human Rights Watch',he bought himself an appeal with the EU Human Rights Court. Forget that the highest court in France upheld his conviction. They don't count.

What I find comical is the vilification that the Koch Bro. get from the left while their whole franchise is financed by this unapologetic 'One Worlder' .

    Hello again, tom:

Well, start giggling... I LOVE David Koch. He is a major contributor to one of my favorite programs on PBS, Nova. I find that fact a bit otherworldly... But hell, the world is a strange place these days.

Indeed . It's people like Koch who's underwriting contributuons to PBS and NPR make it possible for NPR execs to say they really don't need tax payer funding . Nova is a great show. I watch it often.
