    Hi Skell,

I just wanted to say that my thoughts are with you mate!

I think you handled the situation with your ex in a very mature way and it must have took a lot of courage to talk to her, especially under these circumstances.

Don't think of it as a backward step but something you had to do for your nan!

    Take Care..

    Geoff..

    Skell,

Couldn't agree more. You did great! We all are thinking of you. Be sure and let us know how your Nan is doing.

Skell, I can only hope if I were in a similar situation I would handle it with the grace and care that you did. I can only hope.

    Good for you Skell.

You are stronger and further along the healing path than you let on. The fact that you have remained humble and modest, shows you are at the point you look and think before you leap, and have the strength of character to deal with things when you have to. Some female will be lucky to get a mature caring male, such as yourself and your story should be an inspiration to others who need the guidance to recover from their own emotional heartbreak.

Thanks all. Really great words from you all.

Thanks for the brilliant post above Tal. And Cat I think you are spot on the money again with what you said!

The ex went and seen my Nan in hospital over the weekend and I think it cheered her up a bit. So any little discomfort I have felt was well worth it considering it helped Nan.

As well the piece of jewelry belonging to the ex's family is being returned to her mother today.

So now it is just back to no contact for me. Just what I want and still need!

Anyway, thank you all again. Now I can get back to trying my best at helping others again

It does seem like times of loss and trouble reveal the bedrock reality in people and relationships. I know in my own times of bereavement I've sometimes been surprised at who I felt closer to and who I felt distant from. You did good in your interaction with your ex. Now you've been tested and passed with flying colors, so you can have even more confidence in going forward from here. Trouble and stress is not all bad. It shows us how we've grown and certifies the progress we've made. Gratitude is ALWAYS an appropriate attitiude. Carry on, mate!
