I guess the next step is looking for a specialist, or simply change the whole unit for a new one...

What's the reason you have the ISE 17 unit installed ? No place to install electrical switch ?

These units are quite expensive. You could buy regular GD and install elec. Switch... You will save yourself a bundle

I haven'T repair the unit yet.

We plan to rebuild the whole kitchen during the next year, so I still hate that thing every morning!

Let me know if you order the piece from the website you told me about, I might be interested to change it too, if it works, and not too hard to do...

Hi Speedball1. This is MitchieB. If you happen to be reading on this Superbowl day, is there any reason that I can't replace the switch on the above mentioned pro17 WITHOUT removing the unit? It looks like I can get behind it to remove the switch box. I'll of course have it unplugged, but it seems to be just a switch unit replacement and then reattaching the replacement wires, which come in a kit.
Your expert advice/warnings welcomed. And enjoy the game.

Hey Mitchie, Nice to hear from you again. Although I've installed and unstuck countless disposals I've never got into repair. You should have instructions with the new switch, (seen image) if you have already ordered it and if not here's where to go. Unhooking a disposal usually only requires loosening a couple screws (at discharge elbow at disposal) and spinning the collar backward.

I am sure you will be much more comfortable pulling the unit down, for sure.

Lifting the unit up and rehooking can be a bit tougher but if needed just brace the disposal up using books, etc. unitl the collar is up high enough and then spin the collar on.

Just my thoughts here... :)

You have something that's been dropped in the unit, ( perhaps a popo-top tab or a small screw) that's caught between the table and the disposal wall that's preventing then table from turning.
I carry a plumbers plunger on my truck. Not to clear a clog but to use as a lever to clear a jammed disposal. Here's how I do it.
I place the end down against a blade on the RIGHT side so it can be levered COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Put some muscle into it and see if you can get it to budge. If you can get the 5table to turn free get your hand down bin there to pick out whatever was blocking the turntable.
If the table's frozen then the unit will have to be pulled and opened up. If the object has gone through the wall the unit will have to be replaced.

I am staying with my sick parents and there insinkerator just stopped working. It was jammed and I was able to free it up with an Allen wrench underneath but now it is just not working at all.
It makes a faint ticking noise when it is activated.
My mom shoves everything down there...

Push the red reset button on the bottom of the disposal... see if that resolves the issue... ;)

After pressing the reset button and all you get is a hum then you have something caught between the wall and the turntable. That must be removed. I never had much luck using the wrench. I take a broom handle and lever turntable counterclockwise. When the table turns free you may remove the obstruction.
