    Single and two speed??

Do you have the model numbers?

One place quoted me $300 more for the 2 speed, while another quoted me $1,100 more. Why?

Because they felt like it. Did you ask them why?

The 300 bid sounds like just the extra cost of the furnace. The 1100 may be because of different brand of furnace. When you say two speed, I assume you mean two stage. Two stage heating systems are more efficient than single stage. What brands were they quoting.

    So be it.

It could be the relay on the circuit board BUT it may not and without knowledge of testing and tools you might be tossing your $$$ away.
