One of the best things I remember is swimming in the sea when it rains... the water is warm and it was so much fun to look from below the water as each raindrop looks like a pearl when it hits the water.
I remember collecting butterfly caterpillars and keep them between two coconut shells, after a while it would change into a cocoon and soon enough into a butterfly.
Tag and Hide-and-seek were favourites...
Fishing was fun... and I am not too bad at it,but had to compete though with my bro who's a pro :)
I remember playing with marbles and empty cartridges/shells (which we had collected from an abandoned shooting range used by the military). Each would have his soldiers aligned in rows and we have to gun them down with the marble.
Collecting ants or flies was a fun thing then,
Bro keeps score while us cousins collect them and feed them to lizards around the house.
Digging holes in the ground and putting candles in them to light the way for ants He he..
Playing water polo...
Wrestling in the sea, two climb on the shoulders of two other team members and we wrestle to see who topples over first.
There was a silly game we used to play, we find a seed that floats and one goes under the water and lets it go and all others will splash until it comes up then whoever catches it gets to dive under and release it.Lot of screaming and chasing of a marble sized seed by about 5-6 kids and adults, imagine the fun;)

I am imagining the fun right now firmbeliever. You are not only a sweet gal, you are fun too! I knew that already but let the world know...
If I had enough guts to get into the ocean (my favorite place by the way) I would wrestle any day! LOL

Rank you sounds like a great childhood! My father was mostly absent but I had a wonderful Grandpa, you guys reminded me of him bringing home his lunch box after work and if he knew we were going to be there he always had something in it for us.
Another thing that he always did was let us put our hands in his big jar full of pennys and we got to keep as many as our little hands could grab. It was a big deal to us.
Then we would get all the bottles that we could find plus our pennys and walk to the little store and buy a bunch of penny candy.
Remember the dots, and the little wax bottles that had juice in it?

The little wax juices are a good memory. I found some that looked like baby bottles a while ago and they were not the same at all. I remember getting 2 quarters for a lost tooth not 2 dollars or more! Spoiled rotten kids. LOL

One thing we use to do is, my dad brought home a boxful of alkaseltzers one dayfrom work. WHY he brought them home, I have no idea as he never did let any of us use them for medicinal purposes.
Anyway, my dad played the guitar as did his brother and several of his friends. On Friday and Saturdat nights, they would all gather at our house and "make music".
His friends had kids, so there would be about 7 or 8 of us outside playing. We would each get a bottle of alkaseltzer, take all the tablets out except 1, add a little water, snap the plastic cap back on (this was before childproof bottles), shaaaaaake 'em up to make them fizz, aim it each other, and FIRE!! It's a thousand wonders we didn't put someone's eye out! LOL!
We also had a high bank below the house with a terrace at the top. Perfect for small children to hide in. We would gather a large supply of pine cones, then lie in wait. When a car came by, we would hurl our "grenades at them, then quickly duck back down LOL!
