What does a Grandmother have to do to get custody of her grandchildren if the mother keeps leaving them for days or weeks at a time, and no one can find her?

Seek a good attorney to get custody. Seems to me the mother is negligent and the children need stability.

Document every thing and every time these things happen. And you will have to hire an attorney and fight her for custody.

Isn't easy getting custody of a grand child, since grand parents don't have rights, but you can keep a record of all the these she is doing to the children an report her to Child Protective services an work with them an they will take the children an place them with you, good luck stay on this

How old are the children we are talking about here. Is the mother on business trips for work, does she have a nanny?

    Where is the father?

Are you the mother of the mother in question here, or the mother of the father?

Who is looking for her besides yourself, and if this has gone on several times already, why haven't the authorities been involved already.

Too many pieces missing to offer good advice here in my opinion.
