    My girlfriends horrible evil roommate.
Ok, So my girlfriend signed a once year lease with a girl that she worked with. They are both on the lease but they could not have goten the place if it wasn't for my girlfriends credit. Her roommate has no credit, no car, and until just a about a month ago she didn't even have a cell phone. My girl was trying to help her get on her feet but after about 3 months of living together she has realized that her roommate has no intentions of being a responsible person at all. She got fired from two difrent jobs within a month, she does nothing but go out drinking meeting random people and bringing them back to the apartment to party. We know she has a drug problem and today one of her new "friends" stormed in with a hammer in her hand looking to beat her up for supposedly stealing her purse... her friend went in her room and took her stereo. We are pretty sure she was on drugs at the time too.
She has paid her share of the rent by somehow finding people that for some reason are friendly enough to pay it for her. So the money is not an issue, but the whole living situation has become very stressful.
My girlfiend and I would love it if we could get her off the lease and I take her place.
We feel like it is risky living with her because we know she has drugs in the apartment on a regular basis, she brings people that she just meet at the bar scene home on a regular basis to do drugs with her.
also she seems to be obsessed with my girlfriends dog, she claims that it loves her more and she wants to take it to be hers.
I am convinced that she is crazy, her room is ussually a mess and she has broken her toilet seat and towel rack in her bathroom.

this morning the neighbors complained that she knocks at their door asking for cigarettes at unreasonable hours.

she is just a very annoying disrespectful horrible roommate.

is there anything we can do to force her to leave?
We are pretty sure she won't leave willingly because she has nowhere else to go, she's never had her own place.

oh yeah, she also never buys toilet paper, food, laundry detergent anything at all. Shel expects to just be provided with everything :(

sorry if this was too long and I rambled but its been a stressful day...

The first thing that comes to my mind, that your girlfriend shouldn't be around someone like that. Years ago I had a problem like this with my roommate. This was a long time ago. What I did was talk to my landlord about what was going on. I told my landlord everything. I know telling that she is on drugs could bring the law into it, but this may be the only way to help this person and think of it this way, if the law came in right now . It could go the wrong way and your girlfriend might get into some trouble cause she lives there as well. One has to take action in a case like this. Your girlfriend is unsafe in her home and that is a place where you should feel safe at all times.

Has you girlfriend talked to the landlord? It seems that would be the most reasonable thing to do. I would imagine that eventually this girl's friends are going to get tired of helping her pay her bills, and then the landlord could evict her. I'm not even sure that the landlord has to have much of a reason to evict. I once lived with a girl who decided she wanted me to move out so she could live alone with her boyfriend, so she asked her mother, from whom we rented the house, to evict me. Which her mother did. The girl could have just asked me to move, but she didn't. Oh well, I guess I'm just saying that I think the landlord has plenty of reason already to evict this girl - she's damaged property, she's a nuisance to the neighbors, and she has illegal substances in his house. In some states, if she's busted, the landlord could lose his property. So I really think talking to the landlord is the way to go on this one. Legally, your girlfriend doesn't have the right to ask this person to leave, because both names are on the lease. Has to come from the landlord.
