How to hire a typist for home project
I have many short stories and poems that I would like self-published. The Co. who will do it wants everything sent to them in PDF form. Currently it is only on hard copy and due to extensive use of my hands keyboarding I will be unable to retype all of this work myself. Would like to hire someone to do it on my computer at home. I am obtaining a copyright also. Does anyone have any knowledge about how to go about finding a typist to do this. Any info is appreciated.

Do you have a scanner? MS Word?
Be VERY careful whom you send your writings to. What is this company and what have they promised you?

There is software that can read typed hardcopy. It will save you a ton of money, and any amount of proofreading you'll have to do will be minimal.
Did you type in on your computer? Are you sure you didn't save files?
If you won't do this, the next question is why does the transcriber have to work on your computer? That would require paying someone by the hour to come to your house (I wouldn't hand over my computer to them to work from their home). They can save it as PDF and you can download it to your computer from theirs. Make sure you have copies in case what you give them is lost, or they disappear, get sick, or die.
All in all, there is no reason why you can't do this yourself with software. Hire a nerd for one hour.

Co. says you get minimum 24 copies of the book for about $150.00. No contracts to sign. But all has to be sent to them by PDF form. Yes, I have a scanner and Microsoft Word 2016.

NEVER pay someone to do this. This is called a vanity press. A legitimate publisher pays YOU. My nieces handed over $6000 to a vanity press and never made any money.
Of course, if you have no plans to sell your "published" book and just want to hand it out free to friends and family....

Scan each page and make it pdf, then upload it to Word. How many pages do you have? Are they edited and in good shape?

Yes. All sheets in good shape, kept in binders in plastic sheets. Maybe over 60 , 70 sheets. Not sure.
My Epson color printer can do scanning. Have word 2016, part of Office.

So all you need to do is scan each page in pdf and upload it to Word (and save it there so you can send all pages via email).
