Should I tell my friend, who just had a misscarriage, that I have send her a present?
The day before yesterday, my best friend had a miscarriage. She was fifteen weeks pregnant. She lives in a developing country and complained that they don't sell 9 month journals there, so I offered to send her one.

Since I was already sending her a package, she also asked me to send her maternity clothes, a diaperbag, prenatal vitamines, a book about how to care for a newborn etc. So four weeks ago I send that package and as a surprise, I also send her a card to congratulate her and a Winnie the Pooh bear in a pyjama with stars that give light in the dark, as a present for the baby.

She also asked me to send her a new pair of shoes of a comfortable brand that they don't sell there, it was sale, so I send her three pairs. At least something which she can enjoy, without being pregnant and their were two perfumes in promotion that she likes and perfumes are also very expensive there, so I also send her those. So fortunately, there is still enough in the package for her that she can enjoy without being pregnant.

I sent the package by sea fright, she has to pick the package up herself at a warehouse, which she will of course still do, but she doesn't know about the present. Should I tell her, to make it less painfull for her to unwrap the gift and read the card?

She complained that she had nothing personal to give the baby in his coffin, so she gave him a ring from her finger, that she is wearing for decades. I think that the Winnie the Pooh would have been great to accompany him in the coffin, although that stuffed animal is bigger that the baby is. But it is too late for that anyway.

If it were you, would you liked to be warned, before you find a surprise like that in a package?

Yes, you should tell her so that she isn't shocked when she opens it.

Thank you. I will ask her if she wants to know it in detail. It is wrapped in giftpaper, so now she also has the option to regift it, without opening it.
