Did you live in New York state when you received the distribution that the Form 1099-R is for?

No I lived in GA for the entire year of 2014 and that is when I received the distributions. It's a 2014 1099-r. It is from a job I worked at years ago in NY. I am 82 and moved to GA in Dec. of 2013. I filed a nys tax return in 2013 as a part yr. resident, but didn't think I had to file a 2014 nys tax return since I lived in GA the entire year

I agree. There is no requirement or you to file a NY state tax return, as New York has NO legal standing to tax your income.

You DO have to declare the Form 1099-R income on your Georgia tax return. Given your age, however, the income is exempt from Georgia income taxes.
