    Windows xp stuck on system recovery
    I tried to do a system recovery on my computer because my computer was acting up and moving slow so I figure if I tried this this would help my computer out but when I did the system recovery and the computer started over it goes to system recovery and when I type exit to get out of it it goes to a black screen with one flashing line on it and it just keeps going back and forth from recovery to the black screen can anyone help me out ?

    Do you have a valid system recovery disk that your using or are you trying to reinstall xp from a disk partition ?

    I don't have a disk at all I don't have any of the windows xp disks it has the option on my computer to do a system restore.

    That is correct. It has the option but also you have to have the disks for it to restore from or a partition. If you have neither then your going to need to reinstall from scratch.

    I have neither how do I reinstall it from scratch
    There is a bunch of stuff on my computer from my kids I want to do a factory reset or something and take everything off the computer and update everything and I don't have any of the CDs anymore is there anyway I can do this without the CDs because all this stuff on the computer is making the computer run very slow so let me know what I can do thanks

    You can call around shops and ask how much they want to fix it for you if you don't want to buy the disks. And maybe get yourself an external drive to throw everything onto if you can still use it in safe mode. Or if you have a friend that has xp that matches yours and your still has the factory sticker then you can install it without copyright infringement. You license is on the sticker for your version of windows.

    From the sounds of it your best bet is to back up and then start fresh after everything is secure.
