What does it mean when your doctor tells you your pregnancy test is negative so far?
My doctor told me my pregnancy test came back "negative so far"
He put me on a medicine for strep throat and said "it wont hurt the baby"
So what does that mean if my pregnancy test came back negative?

It means that you either aren't pregnant or it's too early for a positive result.

He's saying that as of now the test is negative, but you possibly tested to soon, which means it's possible that you are pregnant, it's just not showing on a test yet.

He gave you medication and told you it won't hurt the baby, because there may be a possibility that you're pregnant, and if you are he wants to assure you that the medication won't hurt the baby that may, or may not, be there.

You should test when your period is at least 2 weeks late. If that test is negative, wait for your next period, and if that's missed, get a blood test.

A blood test should have shown, what type of test did you do ?

Are you trying to get pregnant ? And I assume you are having sex regularly so what if you just got pregnant a week before,

You are reading way too much into what the doctor said. He was being safe, just in case

So is your period at least 2 weeks late?

If it is, and you're testing negative, then wait for your next period and see what happens. If you miss it, test again or get a blood test.

We really can't tell you if you're pregnant or not. We can tell you that according to the test that your doctor performed, you're not. It was negative. But it sounds like he may feel you tested to soon, so there is a possibility that it was a false negative. So he's treating you as if you're pregnant by prescribing medication that would be safe to use during pregnancy. So either way you're covered, pregnant or not pregnant.

Do you understand? It doesn't mean you're pregnant, it means that he's playing it safe just in case the test was wrong.

Then a test should be accurate at this point. But urine tests are not as accurate as blood tests.

Did the doctor tell you when he wanted you to come back for another test?

When would your next period be due if you hadn't already missed one? Wait for it, and if you miss it too, then test again, or get a blood test done.

That's really the only advice we can give you.

I do wish you luck. I hope it all works out for you. :)
