    Toyota Camry 2007 A/C problem
    Hi,

I have a toyota camry 2007. I recently had an A/C problem and I changed the condenser (Brand new) and a compressor (from the scrap yard). For a few days it was working fine and then suddenly the cold air just stopped.

The air is coming out normally there are no issues, it's just the coolness has stopped like as if the compressor is not on.

FYI, before the changing the above parts I was sensing cold air from the passenger side but not the drivers side, and then suddenly all the cold air stopped, hence I changed the above parts.

Please let me know you professional answer regarding the above issue, also if you could explain me in more detail as to how my toyota's A/C actually works (I Mean the mechanics/physics of it all).

    Thanks!!

Sounds like you have a leak in the system. Using salvage parts for AC repair is not a good idea. Too often they sit, the seals dry out, and now you have a leak. I am not saying the compressor is definitely the problem but I wouldn't be surprised if it was leaking. You need someone to check the system for leaks... the whole system.

    Hi odinn,

Thanks for your reply. So basically it could be that since I put a salvage compressor it could have old seals.. etc and hence the leak of the AC gas right?

OK and another question, I'll show my car tomorrow to a garage, so in case if the AC gas is not leaked, what else could be the problem ? And how many part actually make up the AC system in my car?
    Thanks!

It could be that but it also could be that you had a leak in a seal beforehand. I have seen plenty of seals go bad.

If there is not a leak, the place you take your car to should be able to give you an idea. There are so many things that can cause this, but the leak is the most common. What you describe could be anything from a fuse to a plugged line up to a bad compressor. Just see what they say. I am betting on a leak.

Here is an overview of the basic components of an AC system.

I got my car checked and it turns out that the gas is perfect and there was no leak , it was the compressor.. the guy said that since this is an electronic compressor so even if there is a small issue or malfunction the whole compressor will stop working .

I also wanted to ask, can you tell me more about (or send a link) the relationship between the engine torque and the AC system as I read somewhere that when you raise your rpm then your compressor adjusts according to the torque that the engine is producing or something to that effect.

Thanks for that link... It was vry helpful!
