    Parental rights termination
I haven't seen my child in six years. She is 16 now. Reason being is because of my mental disability. I receive disability benefits and now they want to take most of that for child support and arrears. I'm disabled and need that money to survive. My daughter receives over 700 per month from my disability. And they take 430 out of my check. I want terminate my parental rights... any help?

There is this myth that a parent can just give up their rights. But its only a myth. Only a court can terminate rights and no court will terminate rights to let a parent out of paying support.

Your only option is to go back to court and try to get the amount you have to pay reduced.

You can not terminate, especially to get out of support. You need to clearly show child support what your income is and that your daughter IS receiving 700. A month in supplemental OUT OF YOUR check already.

I'm not trying to get out of paying. I just don't see it fair that they get more than me

And it may not be. Which is why you go back to court for a modification.

If you weren't trying to get out of paying, then why try to terminate rights?

Just to confirm this, no, you can not sign over your rights, if the mother had remarried, and that parent wished to adopt, then it could if new husband wanted to adopt.

But no, for this, it is not going to happen.

Child support is based on income, you need to return to court
