    Septate hymen removal?
Hi. I'm 16 and like last year discovered that I have a septate hymen. I did a lot of research and examined myself and I'm about 99% sure that's what it is. Ive read a lot about a surgery to remove it & Im wondering if it's a good idea. It broke like in half the other day & now there's like flaps of skin & its ugly. Can I still get that removed?

You cannot diagnose this yourself. You will have to see a gynecologist for a proper diagnosis before you begin discussing treatment.

Yes, it's minor surgery, if that's what it is... You don't have to, as long as you don't encounter problems with it.

Any surgery is expensive. The first thing you need to do is get an accurate diagnosis.

Well I don't really see how it could be wrong. It's a pretty obvious thing. But I've made an appointment w my obgyn.

I'm happy that at 16, with no medical training, that you are able to accurately diagnose yourself. Heck, I'm a medically trained professional and wouldn't even attempt to diagnose myself.

I do hope, however, that your diagnosis is as you expect, and that you are able to get the care and treatment you need.
