    Tampons
I tried a tampon today for the first time, I walked around and felt discomfort and within seconds I began to feel sick and faint so I took it straight out and proceeded to pass out. I don't know if this was caused because I was nervous and stressed about doing it for the first time or something else, can anyone help?

Unless you have a very rare allergy to the material (polyester fiber or cotton or both) then I suspect that you were nervous. You also may not have put it in far enough, and that caused discomfort on the edge of the pubic bone. I never felt pain but felt a little uncomfortable if I didn't put it in far enough or if it slipped down. You also may have broken your hymen if it wasn't before, and that hurt. Or, my last idea, maybe having your period made you a little weaker than usual, just from fluctuating hormones at that moment. They do fluctuate a LOT, one way up, one way down, it's a marvel that we don't all still swoon like Victorian women, who maybe just had their bodices on too tight. Good diet and general health plays a big part too.

Thank you for your answer, I think it may have just been nerves including the fact that it's a very hot day and I hadn't eaten or drank anything, still feeling a bit sick but hopefully it will blow over, thank you!

Be sure to follow the directions on the package for angling/inserting it correctly.
