    Relinquishing father's rights
My brother had a few flings with a woman that assured him she was on birth control (anyway, irrelevant now) he has asked her to consider aborting or adoption he does not want anything to do with being a parent in anyway, she refuses so he wants to know how he can go about getting contract drawn up relinquishing all parental rights and doesn't want to be involved except if ordered to pay child support to her monthly. Can such papers be drawn before the child is born? Or soon after the birth? How does one go about the papers drawn up not to costly? Thank you.

First, its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. To avoid confusion I've moved your post to its own thread.

There is a myth that a parent can just give up their rights to a child. But its only a myth. So no, such a contract can't be drawn either before or after the birth.

However, there is no law forcing a person to act as a parent. If your brother decides he wants nothing to do with this child, he doesn't have to have anything to do with it. He can't be forced to visit the child, attend events, etc. However, he can be forced to support the child financially.

So basically your brother does nothing. If the mother chooses to go after him for support once the child is born, then he pays what the court orders. And that's all he has to do.

He doesn't have to sign the birth certificate or an acknowledgment of paternity. However, if the mother goes after him for support he should insist on a test to confirm paternity.

Correct BUT many places once a guy signs he pays even if its proven otherwise.
