Why all of a sudden both arms and hands went numb
Twice today I was sitting and all of a sudden both arms went numb I couldn't feel my hands or use them the were totally numb.after I laid down after a few minutes the feeling came back.my hands were shaking.I thought a pinched nerve but I'm not sure now.I do have nerve end damage in my neck.but I always just get tight muscles and knots I only take ibprofin for pain.im not sure if I should go to the emergency or just make a doctors visit?

You should make a doctor's appointment.
You should take Tylenol as well as ibuprofin. It is more for pain while ibuprofin is more for inflammation (I take both for both).
Tell us what you are doing all day, if sitting. Are you working at a computer? Do you have any medical history of significance?

Yes, how do you sit when you are at your computer? I notice if I lean over my keyboard a lot, my neck gets wonky and my arms get numb. Or are you sleeping badly on a too-flat pillow or in a position that crooks your neck? You MAY have a pinched nerve. Definitely make a doctor's appointment to deal with this.

If you are on your computer while sitting up in bed a lot, there's your culprit.
STOP it. It's very bad to use a computer anywhere but at a desk of the right height for you, on a chair of the right height for you, and with a 'return' (L shape piece for an arm rest) on the side of the arm you use.
Your feet should be flat on the floor, and your knees should be slightly higher than the seat of the chair. Your arms at rest should sit on the desk without hunching up.
Your screen should be either at eye level or you should train yourself to look down with your eyes and not lower your NECK!!
For a short person like me, 5' 1, I have a 27" high desk and a very low chair.
