AP phone records secretly taken by Justice Department
Why should anyone be surprised... after all the architect of the Fast and Furious scheme to arm the Mexican Drug lords by the Obama administration was all but given a free pass by the press.
Justice Department secretly obtained AP phone records | Fox News
But then... why should we care... these same people have a total disregard for our Second Amendment rights... and their First Amendment rights are no more precious or important.

Don't worry there is probably some obscure executive order that allows them to do it, trust your local politician he's your friend

Those are the last people I'd trust... You don't get elected Dog catcher without being an accomplished liar.
I'm waiting for the outrage from the rest of the drive by media that's been protecting their Messiah. Because the AP was one of them.

Uh oh, when Obama's lost the media who does he have left?
52 media groups protest DOJ's Associated Press action
More than 50 major media organizations on Tuesday sent a letter to the Department of Justice protesting the seizure of two months of The Associated Press’ phone records and calling for the department to “mitigate the damage it has caused.”
In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and Deputy Attorney James M. Cole, the organizations — which include POLITICO and Allbritton Communications Company — ask that the DOJ return the secretly subpoenaed phone records and explain how government lawyers “overreached so egregiously in this matter.”
The department should also announce any other pending media-related subpoenas and publicly disclose additional information about who has had access to the AP phone records, the groups wrote.
“The scope of this action calls into question the very integrity of Department of Justice policies toward the press and its ability to balance, on its own, its police powers against the First Amendment rights of the news media and the public’s interest in reporting on all manner of government conduct, including matters touching on national security which lie at the heart of this case,” the letter from The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and 51 other news organizations including Advance Publications, Cox Media Group, The McClatchy Company, The New York Times Company and NPR, among many others, stated.
The media organizations also noted that no one could “remember an instance where such an overreaching dragnet for newsgathering materials was deployed by the Department, particularly without notice to the affected reporters or an opportunity to seek judicial review” in the 30 years since the department issued guidelines about its subpoena practices for journalists’ phone records.
Carney was busy once again yesterday telling us the White House has no idea what happens in his own executive agencies. When someone asked if other media outlets had been the target of his DoJ he told them they'd have to ask Holder, so someone did. Holder isn't sure how many times they've seized reporter's records.
Yeah that Obama really knows how to govern. Nobody knows who does what which begs the question, who's running the show? Jon Stewart's not impressed.
Oh, in answer to my first question Media Matters is still in the tank for Obama. I guess media doesn't really matter to them but then again they're probably the most loyal agency in the Obama administration.

I'm sure Media Matters is being fed information illegally gotten by the Obama Administration... with some luck... they will get caught with their hand in the cookie jar too.

You guys stole the cookie jar a long time ago and ate the cookies and as usual blame everybody else while you have crumbs on you face.
When the dust settles we will see this was you guys drumming up votes from your base and distracting the public from your antics.

Gee... the left is upset they got caught actually doing what they were accusing others of doing without proof.
Their Precious Messiah has proven to be a Demon rather than the Saint they portrayed him to be.

Tal, as a friend, you're sounding a little unhinged. Obama is in deep doo doo of his own doing, you can't blame Republicans for the mess he's in now.

You have been saying that for years even when he was re elected. Your noise will die down soon, and you will look loony again. Not that you that won't make you stop hollering.
Why aren't you hollering for sexual assault victims in the military? Meals on wheels? The rising cost of disaster relief? Naw can't do that because all you can holler about is your rights and the ones you think that others don't deserve.
Keep hollering if that's all you know to do.

Why isn't the left whining about the people getting Killed in Chicago by other lefties thugs?
Because OBAMA, the White House and the IRS have been caught breaking the laws and violating civil rights... is a way bigger and way more important thing than some clueless horny guy hitting up on women that aren't interested.
THe fact Obama refuses to call Ft Hood an act of Islamic Terrorism and still insistst if workplace violence despite the fact it Was a Islamic Loon chanting to his Pedophile god as he was shooting people.

I get it, you guys follow this pattern - if I'm not hollering about the things you're interested in it means I don't really care I'm just stirring up crap. Am I right? Can I get an amen?
Why aren't you hollering about Planned Parenthood and NARAL showing no regard for the children who were victims of Gosnell?
Why aren't you hollering about the ever-ballooning cost of Obamacare?
Why arren't you hollering about the IRS abusing their power, trying to sway the outcome of elections, intimidating conservatives, trashing first amendment rights?
Why aren't you hollering about the DoJ undermining the first amendment, not only in regard to the media but trampling on free speech on virtually every college campus?
Why aren't you hollering about the Benghazi coverup, or HHS extorting money from those they regulate?
You obviously don't care that we're being scammed, lied to, cheated on and abused by our own government because you certainly won't holler about it in the face of overwhelming evidence. But like I said don't worry, I've got your back if you aren't concerned about your rights.

Holder recused himself from this... but he doesn't know when he did it, he didn't do it in writing and he doesn't know who authorized the subpoenas of the AP and their employees phone records.
Apparently we have Sgt. Schultz running the Justice department.

Rep Devin Nunes is making the claim that The Emperor's Justice Dept was snooping on Congress ,and that one of the lines they were monitoring was the House of Reps 'Cloakroom' . I have no other collaborative sources except that he mentioned it on a number of interviews yesterday.

When I first posted the story it included the main AP phone number in the House press gallery among the records seized so I'd say Nunes is right.

People NEED to go to jail for this... not just be fired so they can be rehired in some other capacity.

More likely then is that phone calls to or from the cloak room to or from the press gallery were included in the logs that the DOJ compiled... Although it wouldn't surprise me if they have the content of the conversations too.

And the phones in the Press gallery belong to Congress... NOT the Press, the press only uses them... that means they wiretapped Congresses phones as Congressmen use those from time to time to.
So there is ALSO a gross violation of the separation of powers as well.

The right wing lynch mob is up early this morning. Or else you haven't been to bed yet. All these investigations and you already have an outcome... Its Obama's fault. Haven't you listened to Tom outline the years this has been going on? Hell, all this stuff that's biting us in the butt is old news that's been done before many times.
I can go along with the system needs fixing. We all know that. But we all know that right wing hollering fixes nothing. Never has. If elected official did their jobs instead of chase money we might solve some problems.
