What jobs can I get with an "MIS" (Management Information Systems) degree?
And what's the best job among?

To be brutally honest... with the current world economy... the best job is the one you can actually get at graduation... you can always look for a better one in a few years.

There are huge numbers of College grads unemployed and have been for a while. Thus anyone you can get beats any you hope for if you sit at home unemployed.

That's not what you asked... but its something you really need to consider. Particularly if you have no real on the job experience... like 5-10 years + because lots of seasoned IT people are looking for work.

If you are thinking of earning a degree, how about doing some research for this? What have you looked into so far?

I can think of problems with each of those... as I'm a degreed engineer in Electronics that's been working more in the IT related area for a lot of years.

Both have seen a lot of contraction in both the last 30 years unless you get lucky enough to land the right job at the right place... and that's actually a moving target. Because what's great today may be a dead end in 5 years...

I'm being serious... a lot depends on what country you live, and how squeeky clean your life has been... because the best segments are going to require you being able to get high level security clearances... something not everyone can do for a number of reasons.

That's the point, the right question might be:
Which one of the 2 majors can provide more lasting or stable job?
Figuring out the answer requires seeing the big picture if we can say,but the most thing that drives me mad is that even our doctors(teachers) are blind from seeing that picture.

Personally... I'd have tp flip a coin... because the near future looks bleak for either one... because I'm keeping my eye open on either field in case I find myself unwillingly in the job market.

Wish I COULD give a better answer than that... But I got my Degree in 1981... and am convinced the good old days of high tech are just that... the good old days... as in history.

There are some great jobs out there... but they are few and far between. And most require experience and exactly the right kind or experience... as well as a current high level clearance... something nobody coming out of school has yet.

I know that's not the sort of answer you was hoping for... but its an honest one from the perspective of someone who's close to the field.

Honestly, your answers were really helpful to me. And I consider your saying "Because whats great today may be a dead end in 5 years" the wiser answer I got on my question.

I'll be much thankful if anyone can name any site or any way to discuss such questions with more public.
