    Closing electricity account
I must say this website is really helpful as I got the answers on some common things people don't have much knowledge on.

So as I am planning to migrate in April, I will be moving out from my apartment on March 31st. So next thing I want to know that how to close my electricity account. I am using Edison electricity (SCE) and initially I had paid $90 as deposit, as I will notify them to close my account on March 31st, so my concern is will they be going to take this deposit with them as I am closing my account before a year ? If not, can I make it easy way with them that to deduct my March's bill from that deposit and keep the remaining deposit ? This is because I will be closing my US bank accounts too, as using them overseas will cost me more.

You can call the utility company to make arrangements for terminating your account. The deposit that is on file with them was for the purpose creating your account and ensuring the bill would be paid. They should return the entire amount or be able to credit you the amount towards your bill.

Im not sure what their exact policy is but it would be within the norm for it to take 1 billing cycle. Approx time of that would be 1 month.

The only way to get that information is to contact them directly. They should give you some kind of time frame so you have something to work with.
