    Satellite Dish Multi-Dwelling Building
This may not be the best forum for this post. Please guide me to a better forum if one exists.

I have a 10 unit apartment building in Long Beach CA. All 1 bedroom units at that property. 2 story 5 up 5 down. The apartments do not have a private balcony. We have charter cable available for cable TV or cable internet. Meaning Charter cable has installed a access box on the building that is 2 foot x 2 1/2 foot approx. at the SW corner at the 2nd story level.

I have had requests in the past for DirecTV which I have granted. I now only allow a dish to be installed in one location the SW corner of the building. Yesterday I had a call from one of my Tenants with a installer there wanting permission from me. I laughed and told him it's not happening right this minute, in fact it's not happening today. You know you
have to have permission from the owner. So does my tenant. I talked with the tenant.
She understood. Told her I had some research to do. I would be back to her in a day or so.

I understand the wants of the Tenant and I do not want to deny her getting the service she wants.

I do have a problem with the installation methods some of these so called "installers" use.

This tenant had a dish installed YEARS ago on the fascia board in front of her apartment.
Now she wants a bigger a dish. I am thinking this is my opportunity to get her dish off the front of the building and with the other 2 dishes. One of which was left by a tenant that moved on last year.

I am also thinking, if I could get a package deal with a clean installation for all the units and if I could swing a IP camera to increase security in the courtyard communial area thrown in with the deal I might just go for that?

What other options are available for the building as a whole? Pros and cons of
one dish for a small building?

Pros and cons of Charter verses DirecTV?

My mind, ears and eyes are open.
    Let it rip.

Oh and I didn't mention that She had the existing dish in front of her unit on the fascia installed without my permission or knowledge. I noticed it 1 month after it was installed. I was less than thrilled. But I told her OK.

Also I have just recently re-done the fascia boards around the entire building.

We contract with one and only one service. That service (whichever will give you the best deal) PAYS us for the privilege of serving our tenants. They also give us free TV and internet service as part of the deal. We do not let our tenants connect dishes or use any other service. The cable is available in each apartment. The tenant pays their individual bill to the service. We get a check from the service every quarter.

Allowing your tenants to connect dishes to the outside of your building opens you to lawsuits, damages the outside of your building and adds nothing to the looks of your property.

Thank you for the info. Since there is a charter cable main on the building would it be best to go with that. I wonder? If I would go with one of the dish company's it would probably be DirecTV. We don't have Dishnet all that much in Long Beach CA. I need to look around though and shop it out. I would be happy with the IP camera's. 1/4'ly check sounds sweet also.
