Text talk, chat speak, and interesting English. If it bothers you than post about it.
So many of the posters drive me nuts with their text talk, their made up words. I'm literally pulling out my hair, going grey, and banging my head against a wall.
So, instead of correcting them, which I long to do, I figure posting it on a thread, just so someone else sees and can cry with me, may be the better way to go.
It shouldn't be much of a challenge, every second post qualifies. If you see text talk, or words that no dictionary has, post the thread here so we can all gripe with you. Better to do it in private than to alienate a new poster.
You don't even have to post a link, just post the word, phrase, or text babble that's bothering you.
My favorite as of late is tooken. "I didn't tooken the test". Tooken? Really? That's not even close!
The young lady that posted it wanted to babysit, and wanted to know if she could without a license. I didn't realize you needed a license to babysit, but I'm fairly sure I wouldn't want someone that uses the... ahem... word, "tooken" to influence my children. Just saying. :)

If this person is going to do daycare then yes she will need a license. Another thing that comes to mind is that since AMHD moved to mobile devices then we are going to be stuck with it from now on. Ugh my brain hurts when trying to read some of those posts.

Yes, if she decides to work in daycare she'll need a license. But right now she's only 11, and just wants to babysit. Either way, "tooken" made my brain bleed. ;)

I have the ability and permission (I think) to rewrite any post, but I refuse to translate texting because I think it is important for responders to see what type of person (maybe lazy, uneducated, phone manic) they are up against.
If you want me to, I will translate somehow (below the texting?) for everyone.
Alty's comma splices pale in comparison.

LOL! You love my comma splices, and my confusion about then and than. You know you do! :)
No, I wouldn't want it translated. Often times the way someone writes indicates more than just their intelligence, but also their age, and their ability to understand any answer they're given. If someone uses text talk or actually makes up a word like "tooken" I tend to dumb down my answer so they'll understand.
See, at least I know the difference between there, their, and they're! I'm still struggling with than and then, so I mix it up. The commas, well, I've thrown out all the rules with those. :)

If you read his other posts, he's 11, and his style of writing is very American (no offense to my US friends, just saying it does sound like English is his first language). :)
Sounds like an 11 year old that just hasn't learned how to write properly. Probably because he's too busy dating and chasing after girls to pay attention in school. :(
Edit: Just want to add that my 10 year old knows how to write honest. Honestly! :)

Be honest. How long did it take you to write that, and how much did it hurt? :)

It comes pretty easy to me. I got good at it years ago when I used to use it to pick on an idiot on a different forum.

I was wondering if the "than" in the title of this was on purpose...

I know, I know. BUT... you live in Canada. I'm also half German so I can't talk sh*t about you being German.

Darn. Do I have no secrets? Oh right, I tell everyone everything. Sigh.
I do live in Canada, but I'm not Canadian. I've lived here most of my life, but apparently I don't speak like a Canadian, at least that's what Canadians say. I don't have a German accent, but apparently I don't have a Canadian accent either. I don't fit in anywhere. Waaaaaa! ;)
