My wisdom teeth are coming in and have been bugging me a lot lately. Last few days I've had a hard time eating because of the pain. They only start pushing every once in a while for maybe 5-6 days but the pain is excruciating.

Is there any way to help sooth the pain or do I have to suck it up and be a man? Advil/Tylenol doesn't seem to want to help me out.

PS: My dentist has told me they are coming in straight.

Suck it up, be a man, and go to the dentist. Odds are they have to come out. Or you can wait until they impact and you can learn what real pain is.

Coming in straight doesn't mean there will be room for them after they come in.

Few people actually have room for them. I'm one of those few. Because of the Four most people have, only two ever formed and they are much smaller than is normal.

There are topical numbing gels you can apply to those areas, but may not last long enough or will have to be reapplied now and then. Of course, getting the teeth pulled will solve your problem forever.

I do seem to recall my dentist saying that it's going to hurt when they start cutting gums and rolling in, but as far as I know they're coming in straight. Had a cavity filled 7 months ago and x-rays showed they're all lined up.

A trip couldn't hurt though.

I had some Oragel kicking around in the medicine cabinet and you're right, it helps a little bit for about 5 minutes, then it starts throbbing again. I don't dare apply every 5 minutes though, god knows what happens when you apply frequently (I don't think you're supposed to)

They generally will wait until after they erupt before pulling them... if there isn't space for them to fully come in they will cause all kinds of problems...

They should be able to guess from the X-rays they took. if they think they should come out... then get them yanked before the weather gets cold and makes it feel even worse.

Since everyone's not the same.. I'd listen to what they think. You might end up being one of the lucky ones that don't need them pulled.

But until then... try what was suggested.

Yeah last time I was in they said I should be fine, was just going to go through some pain. I just wish there was a way to get rid of the pain though, boys oh boys it hurts. Ahah. I guess I'll have to suck it up then.

Don't doubt it... luckily I can't even remember that part.

The oragel I have at home recommends not to use it for extended periods. I fear every 10 minutes for a week wouldn't be wise. Unless there's another kind out there that you can use frequently?

When I woke up this morning the pain has subsided tremendously. All that's left is the soreness from the gum cutting.

I'm just being a wussy. Haha.

Guess you know what small kids cutting their first teeth are going through now... since none of us can remember that far back.
