    1998 Taurus Transmission O/D Problem
While driving my 1998 Taurus (in O/D) my transmission seems to shift into neutral as I'm gliding to a stop or stopped. The car will just rev when I hit the gas. I try shifting to D and 1 and it still just revs. Only way to get it back in gear is to put it in R, let it engage, then put it back in O/D.However, this does not seem to happen when I'm driving in D instead of O/D. Any suggestions??

It sounds like the internal seals may be in bad shape, which affects the clutch packs operating properly. Hopefully, you dropped and cleaned the pan and magnet, changed the filter, and refilled with Mercon V every 30,000 miles. If you haven't there's an outside chance this may help. There's also an outside chance the Vehicle Speed Sensor is bad, which affects shifting.

Thanks TxGM. I'm going to do a complete transmission service Saturday (Fluid, filter, etc) and I'm going to give the sensor a try. Thought that might be it but wasn't sure. Will let you know what happens Monday. Thanks again
