Bump in the middle of the back of my head but doesn't hurt
I am 16 yrs old, and I have a bump in the middle of the back of my head like exactly like if you go from up the spine to the middle of the back of my head it's there. It is not noticeable because hair is covering it, but I always wondered if I went bald or cut my hair short enough would it be really noticeable. It is probably big as a quarter and it doesn't hurt at all what so ever and it feels like hard bone like any part of my head, Ive had this for so long, no headaches, no migraines, or anything at all. I could even hit it fairly hard and put pressure on it, it doesn't hurt at all. Even though I'm perfectly fine and been living my life well every time I feel the bump I always wonder is it bad, I asked my dad he feels it and says its OK, I ask my mom she says ask the doctor next check up but I end up not doing it and its been more then 5years I guess. So do you think if I've been fine for this long, I shouldn't worry? I get good grades 3.333gpa and above so I don't think it affects anything it doesn't even bother me sometimes I even forget I have it and go through weeks and months till I feel the back of my head.

Some of us have those bumps, others don't. They used to be call 'the bumps of knowledge'.

We all don't have perfectly round skulls.

It sounds as though it might be a sebaceous cyst. Typically nothing more than a nuisance, but you might want to have your doctor check it out.

Thanks for the link... I was too tired to look it up.

I've had several of these, two that have been removed and I still have a third one.

Often occur in womens' pubic hair; not necessarily from poor hygiene. In fact there are some posts where teens are asking what they are and probably occur more readily after they start removing pubic hair. The hair follicles become infected from the constant hair removal.

Actually, all 3 of mine are on my head.

What you are referring to is most likely an Epidermoid cyst.

A true "sebaceous cyst" is much less common and usually comes from glands that secrete oily substances, such as on the scalp where the hair can tend to be quite oily.

Many people tend to mix the two up and it's a very common mistake.
