What are my rights as a wife with a husband on probation?
My husband violated his probation and was forced to stay at a halfway house filled with bed bugs. When he asked to be sent home they denied him and on top of it all they took away his phone. After I came to visit my husband at his halfway house they had told my husband that I was no longer allowed to go there and further stated that he was not allowed to contact me or visit our home. I have never been non compliant with his probation nor have I ever been unreasonable with his probation officer. I have not been abusive or harmful towards him or his probation officer/s.o.

My question is are they legally allowed to cut off all means of contact between two spouses when one is on probation without either ones consent or approval?
I also want to point out that they have been telling me repeatedly that I was stupid to marry him and have been urging for us to get a divorce since we became married& that the probation officer has been very verbally abusive towards me during this whole matter. Is this actually legal?

Yes, your husband committed a crime, then exacerbated that by violating probation. Doing so, puts the probation office in control.

As to suggesting that you divorce him that actually could have been meant to help you.

Your husband committed a crime - I'm not surprised "they" took away his phone. I'm surprised "they" didn't take away his freedom.

And, yes, their advice that you divorce him didn't come from a place of being mean. It sounds like it was "their" idea of common sense.

If his rights are being violated, contact a Civil Rights Attorney.

How do you know we know nothing about it?

That your husbands were convicted of a crime and in the OP's case further compounded the issue by violating probation. When that happened they lost some of their rights.

Now, I will agree that they still have the right to a clean bed. If the halfway house is infested then lobby to have it cleaned. But other than that, I don 't see any abuse here. And I think you are too close to the issue to judge us and the advice we give.

Let me see, I was a past Federal Agent, and also worked for years within the State Correctional Dept. And a expert witness in State Court.

I will tell you, he got convicted, that took many of his rights away from him at that point, on the OP, he then was on probation and he violated that probation. So not only did he do a crime but did something else to be violated.

So tell us, what was the first crime he was convicted of, ( where you a party to the crime ?)
What was the violation of probation ?
Did any of these involve domestic violence ?

If you were either the victim or a helper in any of the crimes, they normally always keep the too of you apart in probation,

And a half way house, if it has bed bugs, gets reported to the Dept of Corrections.

And sorry but from the tone of the post, I doubt you were respectful to them, at least from their view points. But yes they have the right to restrict contact and visits

I don't think "we" "r" putting you through anythingg, nor is any part of the legal system putting you through anything.

It's your husband who caused/is causing these problems for you.

Tell me about your husband, why AMHD is treating him unfairly.
