I have a carrier furnace model # 58STA/STX and it is not cooling my house. I turned it off & took a look at the unit outside and all the pipes are frozen w/ ice. I changed the air filter and let the unit thaw & turned it on again and w/in 2 hrs. It was all frozen up again... help!

Call an HVAC guy... you either have a worn out compressor or a low refridgerant charge... or both. If it runs 100% of the time trying to get the house cold it WILL freeze up... it needs off time for that to melt... and actually if its running well its doesn't run long enough to actually freeze n the first place.

You might have one of the famous Carrier indoor coil leaks causing a shortage of refrigerant as was mentioned before. I believe you have done all you can do on your end. Time to call for a ON SITE professional. BTW the coils have a 5 year warranty but if you scream loud enough to Carrier if it is a coil leak they might help you out. Make sure you have a Carrier dealer check your system.
