    Old urine EtG test
If you ETG test and get a positive after two beers, and you ask to have it tested again, will the same sample still be a positive?

It depends on the interval of testing and following factors, To wit:

    1) From the time of the last drink of the two noted above, what was the time interval until the test (last drink until time that you provided the urine sample)?

    2) Are you male or female?

The above are necessary and it is also helpful to know your age, weight, height, and what you were drinking (5% or light beer, etc).

I was drinking 3.2 beer, and I am 32 years old. 135 lbs, and 5'4". They are testing the same sample, which is a week old now. I drank at 10 pm and the original test was at 6 pm the next day.

That is interesting. Tested at 20 hours. Your EtG read should have been very low based on alcohol consumed. Actually, I'm surprised it was detectable at all, but possible.

Now will it be detectable in retained portion (second aliquot) of urine sample? Probably not in the quantity originally reported.

EtG is unstable in urine samples. May markedly increase or decrease. (see Helander (2009) finding an increase of EtG and compare to an eariler finding by Helander and Dahl (2005) has noted that certain microbes diminish EtG. Both of these studies are supported by Rana & Ross (2010) finding that 52% of samples varied within a 24 hour period.

Will the quantification be the same. NO. Will it be more or will it be less? Who knows? The test has no scientific validity.

NOTICE: Any person or entity that is subjected to or relies on EtG testing should read this Advisory issued by the US Department of Health and Human Services, September 2006 and remains in effect as of date of this posting. Copy available here > US DHHS Advisory
